After wedding coverage the previous day, we decided to visit Guimaras. The island is known for its sweet mangoes. Actually, some considered it as the sweetest in the world.
How to go to Guimaras?
In Iloilo City, take a taxi to bring you to Ortiz Wharf. From there, you have to pay 13 pesos and the ferry will take you to Jordan Wharf in Guimaras. Travel time is approximately 15-20 minutes.
The transfer is safe and smooth overall.
In Jordan wharf, you may choose to ride a pedicab, jeepney, or mini van (depends on budget and how many you are) that will take you to any destination you want within the island. In our case, we chose the Villa Igang resort. Travel time is 30-45 minutes.
We visited the famous Trappist Monastery that sells various products.
Here’s the view on the way to Villa Igang.
We took our lunch at Villa Igang and wasted no time to visit nearby islands.
Our first destination was the Fish Reserves. From the name itself, it houses captured fish for marine research. We enjoyed our visit here. All my friends were amazed of the fishes we saw. From Giant Lapu-Lapu fish, giant Milkfish, and ultra fast fish (i forgot the name). This reserves is definitely a must visit for those who will visit Guimaras.
After few minutes, we headed to Turtle Island. The scenery going there is breathe taking. Typical Philippine views. I’ve been to different islands of the country and the views are almost identical.
Turtle Island – they say that sea turtles are migrating at the island at certain time of the year to lay their eggs.
Beautiful isn’t it? I can compare Guimaras Islands similar to Islands found in Alaminos, Pangasinan (100 islands). Although, Guimaras is cleaner (in my opinion) and less populated.
I didn’t take picture that much because I’m more excited to swim than to hold a camera. After an hour or two, we went back to our resort and tried to make few more clicks before we called it a day and rest.
By the way, for those interested to stay overnight. We paid 1,500 pesos for basic air-conditioned room good for 4 person. They have approximately 20-25 rooms. They serve food but you must order it in advance. Villa Igang Beach Resort can arrange transportation from their resort to Jordan Wharf.
Will I go back? Definitely! I took less photos and visited only few places during my stay. I’m planning to go back this year to have a full coverage of Guimaras.
